Star Wars Battlefront 2 Beta: 4 Ups & 7 Downs
2. Galactic Assault Is (Mostly) Fun Mayhem
Galactic Assault is Battlefront 2's meat-and-potatoes mode, a big-scale, 40-player, objective-driven sandbox of mayhem, and the beta's single map (Naboo's city of Theed) re-affirms that, even with its issues, this mode is a ton of fun.
It's chaotic, it's beautiful, and it does result in some undeniable wish fulfilment, even if you might hope that the game didn't spawn players so far away from the action, as gorgeous as the expansive environments are.
While it remains to be seen whether or not the game's nine other Galactic Assault maps will prevent the mode from feeling too repetitive like its predecessor, this is at least the mode that's sure to make casual shooter fans the most happy. Just run in the vague direction of the objective, shoot, die and repeat (or something like that).
