Star Wars Battlefront 3: 5 Reasons Why It Definitely Needs To Be Made

3. Current Technology

A long long time ago, Star Wars Battlefront had some of the best graphics and gameplay that any Playstation 2 game had to offer. In those days, Call Of Duty hadn't risen to its fame and Medal Of Honor was starting to get a bit same old same old. But Star Wars Battlefront 3 was running off the hype of the prequels, and love 'em or hate 'em, they were successful and did a lot for the franchise. So imagine what the iconic Star Wars battles would look like today? We do gain some ideas from the recent games from the Star Wars universe, but none of those match the intense dogfights and wide scale conflicts of Battlefront. All we need to do is look as far as games like Battlefield 3 or other shooters for inspiration on how Star Wars would look. And it would look great. The picture above is of actual character models from the game, in this case Rebel Fighters - even back in 2007 they looked promising, as did Mr Solo and Palpatine, both of which where modelled from their actors in the films. The game was shaping up to be a winner: everything you expect from a high end game was there, but it seems it just was not enough for LucasArts. Before it was canned, it did truly live up to the shooters of recent times; the graphics were visually pleasing and the gameplay looked incredible. Even the vehicles looked mouth watering. It all looked brilliant but, alas it was not to be. This is very annoying as so many fans know that Battlefront would fit the current generation of consoles so well, and would fit nicely onto the shooter shelf. Why LucasArts have not jumped on the opportunity is beyond me, because they are sitting on a goldmine.
