Star Wars Battlefront: 9 Big Worries Nobody's Talking About

6. The Sense Of Scale Just Isn't There

Credit where credit's due; Star Wars Battlefront looks, sounds and feels more authentically like Star Wars than George Lucas' naff prequel films. However, despite how much respect and love DICE clearly has for the source material, there's one thing the studio haven't been able to replicate. The Battle Of Hoth is always looked upon by fans as being one of the most iconic and spectacle-laden battle scenes in the series' entire history - its sheer scale instilling a sense of sheer disbelief in audiences that such a powerhouse of special effects was even possible in the 1980s. The Empire Strikes Back's opening sequence perfectly set the stage for a galactic struggle between two opposing forces that were giving their all to claim victory. In Star Wars Battlefront - not so much. Two AT-ATs endlessly trudge towards the Rebel Base, all the while feeling strangely removed from the ground warfare due to spending half the match outside of the playable map. The same goes for that, too. one interior hangar scarcely big enough to hold one X-Wing fighter and a few trenches scattered around makes the whole thing feel less like an enormous battle and more like a weekend paintball event with your mates. Obviously, game balance needs to be accounted for, but it doesn't seem like that's working as intended either...
