8. Mario Has ALL Of The Moves

As a platforming legend, Mario is famous for his ability to leap with the best of them. In Super Mario Odyssey, Mario has all of the moves.

Nintendo have purposefully highlighted the fact that the moustached plumber (if he even is that anymore) has his full suite of moves from previous games. His triple jump, spin jump, ground pound and more all make an appearance, which is fantastic because it means that the Mario platforming we all know and love can be as complicated and precise as possible.

Best of all, Super Mario Odyssey finally reintroduces Mario’s best move: The dive. For some reason, diving hasn’t appeared in a Mario game since Sunshine, which means that its inclusion here hints at a much more fully-fledged platforming experience.

Combining all of this with the brand new Cappy moves shows that Super Mario Odyssey is serious about being the best platformer it can possibly be.
