After playing the Subspace Emissary on the Wii version of Smash, the majority of fans were hoping for something similar with Ultimate, but after watching the trailer, it looks as though Nintendo will be giving players something completely different.

Instead of cinematic scenarios where you're forced to choose between certain fighters, the trailer made it seem like players will be moving over a board game with your chosen fighter, attempting to clear each mission.

The introduction of a board-game structure may not have been what fans wanted or expected, but history proves you should never doubt a Nintendo game on the magnitude of Super Smash Bros.
