Switch 2: 10 GameCube Classics That MUST Be Added
7. Resident Evil 2
This is an admittedly unusual choice, as Resident Evil 2 on the GameCube was a port of the original PlayStation game. That said, with RE2 and it's siblings recently arriving on Steam and the PlayStation Store, it feels like only a matter of time before they make their way onto the Switch in some form.
Having recently replayed Capcom's 1998 classic on PS Plus, it's a delight to report that Resident Evil 2 still holds up as king of the old-school survival horrors. A pair of delightfully campy rollercoaster campaigns filled with iconic locations and unforgettable monsters, Resident Evil 2 still stands alongside the (equally fantastic) remake as an essential experience for horror fans.
And to address the elephant in the room - yes, the game does require you to get grip with tank controls (so called because they force you to move the player character like a tank, as opposed to modern gaming's more fluid control schemes). However, tank controls are very much the video game equivalent of changing a nappy - a straightforward feat of coordination that's somehow been blown out of all proportion in society's collective conscience.
All of which is to say that Resident Evil 2 is still great, and if you can't handle tank controls then you're going to find childcare an absolute nightmare.
