Tekken: Every Game Ranked From Worst To Best
1. Tekken 3
Soft rebooting a series with a brand new cast is often a huge risk in fighting games. After all, titles such as Street Fighter III and Soul Calibur V replaced fan favorites much to the chagrin of fans. But if there's one exception to the rule, that would be Tekken 3 - the game that would define the series forever.
In a bold move, the series' timeline moved decades after Tekken 2, introducing a new group of characters featuring Jin Kazama, the son of Kazuya Mishima, and Jun Kazama, Ling Xiaoyu, Hwoarang, Eddy Gordo and more. These newcomers remained mainstays for years to come, and would even outshine their predecessors.
Of course, the big reason Tekken 3 is beloved is right down to gameplay.
Characters moved faster than ever and the ability to sidestep was implemented, making the game truly feel like a 3D fighter. After the initial attempts of the previous games, Tekken finally felt perfect; a technical yet entertaining fighting game that improved on its predecessors to create a whole new benchmark.
Ultimately, the game was one of the highest-selling PlayStation games of all time and changed the series forever, for good reason.
