Tekken: Every Game Ranked From Worst To Best
2. Tekken 5
Tekken 4 was a controversial entry due to the changes it made to the series formula and so Tekken 5 was released to rectify those perceived errors.
Everything players wanted from Tekken returned this time around - with nearly the entire cast of Tekken Tag Tournament returning and a faster, more fluid fighting system too. Gameplay was finely balanced and even the graphics showed what the PlayStation 2 could do during its twilight years. As an added bonus, Tekken 5 even featured an Arcade History mode which allowed newer players to experience the original Tekken, Tekken 2 and Tekken 3.
This was also the first title in the series to receive a major update, leading to the release of Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, with a brand new look and three new characters. This update would be considered the definitive version of the game and would even receive a PSP port.
All in all, Tekken 5 was the saving grace the series needed after the fallout of the fourth game. Not only did it win back disgruntled fans, but it introduced Tekken to a new generation and remains one of the most popular entries to date.
