Telltale's Batman Game: 8 Ways To Make It Truly Incredible

4. Telltale Needs To Update Their Game Engine. Seriously.

I'm not game developer, but man you can tell Telltale are still using the same game engine today that they first built for The Walking Dead in 2012. Some titles hold together better than others for whatever reason, but the latest Game of Thrones episodes looked truly terrible. The background art style was aiming to be some sort of oil painting, but it just looked too low-resolution and straight-up bad - especially on newer hardware. Graphics certainly don't make the game, but at some point they have to step things up considerably. The only competition out there for similar titles that thrive on conversation options and facial animations are Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments and the long-forgotten L.A. Noire, and it's a major problem once you see Telltale's logo that the first thought is "Oh... well it'll be a weird cartoon-style thing again", rather than a visually immersive powerhouse.
