Ultimate Game of the Year
The Contenders Assassins Creed Revelations, Batman Arkham City, Battlefield 3, CoD: MW3, Dark Souls, Diablo III, Fifa 12, Forza 4, Gears of War 3, Journey, Kid Icarus, Mass Effect 3, Max Payne 3, Resident Evil Revelations, Star Wars the Old Republic, Skyrim, Zelda Skyward Sword, Trials Evolution, Uncharted 3. The Verdict Such a selection of popular and good (the two are distinct) games makes this impossible to call. In my eyes its a contest between the two challenging for Best RPG: Skyrim and Mass Effect 3, and there is no point in repeating my argument again. I would hate to see something as gimmicky and flawed as Modern Warfare 3 win despite its popularity with the new generation of teenage gamers, and I cant help but feel things like Fifa, Batman, even Diablo III arent quite deserving. There are some surprising exceptions too, like League of Legends. It wasnt long ago that the best shooters were unique, and engaging because of their gameplay, not flawed level progression systems and gimmicks. RPGs were lengthy, moving and entertaining. Sports games are really the only genre that has continuously improved over the years, and it is up to Mass Effect and Skyrim to carry the torch of good gaming to take the gold in the biggest award in the Golden Joysticks.Introduction to your list should be at least 150 words.
