3. CF - Ronarid (ISS Pro 98)
For a brief period of time, Ronarid was the most frightening attacker on the face of the digital planet. Much like his real life counterpart Ronaldo, his pace, power and close control made him a nightmare for defenses to deal with. With shooting abilities only rivaled by R. Lacros, there was no player more potent in front of goal.
He helped Brazil to steamroll every team they came up against in international competition, scoring at a rate that would make even PES 6's Adriano jealous. While other facsimiles like Ronnaldo and Nr. 9 would terrorize defenses in later ISS and FIFA games, none managed to capture hearts and imaginations quite like Ronarid did.
As the licensing matters surrounding Ronaldo's image rights were cleared up in the early 2000s, Ronarid and his brothers disappeared from the virtual footballing landscape. The era of Wild-West style licensing workarounds was starting to come to an end.
If obscure internet chatrooms are to be believed, Ronarid and co. chose to follow in their father's footsteps, becoming gauchos somewhere in Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul province. In doing so, defenders the world over could sleep again. At least for three more years...
