At time of writing (July 22nd, 2015), Wild Hunt has just received its largest patch yet. Named 1.07, it brought a number of key changes to the game including a faster control method for Geralt, pin-able crafting diagrams in stores and supposedly, the always ambiguous "better performance" footnote. The problem, is although all the aforementioned features are in and work brilliantly, the game (on PS4 at least) now chugs along when you're in menus, where it used to be fairly smooth. CD Projekt are a developer made up of hardcore gamers, they've seen the recent trials and tribulations of the industry, and seek to rectify them wherever possible. However, whilst their hearts are most definitely in the right place, we're seeing a more accommodating, passionate mindset being applied to a very large-scale production, and that's resulting in some elements of Wild Hunt getting worse along the way. In the previous console generations we just accepted games with all their faults and bugs as part of what made them, them. As that definitely didn't hurt Skyrim one bit - and the launch-day version of Witcher was still impeccably put together - we really need a final patch that delivers a version of the game maybe with a few hiccups, but a better performance overall, forcing complainers to accept the state of play as it is.
