Tomb Raider: Ranking Every Game From Worst To Best
4. Tomb Raider: Underworld
Taking everything that worked well with the last two games before it (Legend and Anniversary) and managing to refine it, this is a Tomb Raider game unlike any other.
With the most detailed character model for Lara up to that point, a journey that takes her to the depths of the ocean, the coast of Thailand, and even to Hell and back, quite literally. It’s another nonstop action ride like the ones we have come to know and love, as we went about collecting the pieces of Thor’s armor, including his iconic hammer, Mjolnir.
That’s not even accounting for the added melee combat, more nonlinear levels, and a grand opening that features Lara running through Croft Manor as it burns to the ground. It had everyone pulled in right away.
And with a restrained, yet resilient tone for the story and Lara herself, it serves as a fitting conclusion to a roller coaster ride of a trilogy that left us as driven as ever to enter Helheim, and finally learn the truth about Lara’s tragic past.
