Tomb Raider: Ranking Every Game Worst To Best
8. Tomb Raider Anniversary
Before the industry began seriously capitalising on the lucrative practice of remaking classic games in too superfluous a manner, one of the earliest incarnations of this method - and potentially still one of the best - happens to be the 2007 remake of the game that birthed a legend.
Other than the obvious overhaul of graphical upgrades, which were designed specifically for the emerging technology of the time, the remake gave gaming's most revered femme fatale a new lease on life. The newly implemented controls of the former title (Legend) have been fine-tuned and fluidly accentuated to modernise a classic for a new generation.
Everything that made the initial experience such a memorable one is present and accounted for too! The levels are the same, the games structure and puzzles are still featured and Lara herself still feels just as fresh to the medium as she did in her heyday.
It's clear that Eidos has a lot of passion for making games starring their biggest cash cow, and unlike so many others that utilised the remake route further down the line, it's clear they weren't simply milking it for more than it was worth.
