8 Dumb Video Games That Made You Feel Like A GENIUS
5. Deadly Premonition
Deadly Premonition is one of the most divisive video games of all time, enough that it even won a Guinness World Record for being the most critically polarising survival horror game ever made.
And frankly, there are so many reasons one could write it off as thunderously stupid - the woefully janky controls, terrible combat, abundance of bugs, and regular crashes.
That's to say nothing of the confusing storytelling and hilariously stilted dialogue and voice acting, which has caused some to dub it a "so-bad-it's-good" game.
But it's also fair to say that much of Deadly Premonition's "eccentricity" is intentional, that it's a willfully campy B-movie of a video game filtered through the surreal prism of David Lynch's Twin Peaks.
And for those who get on this wavelength and appreciate the game as the bonkers pastiche that it is, they'll likely come away feeling smart for not having dismissed it out of hand quite so easily. After all, they got it.
Now, does that mean that anyone who hates Deadly Premonition for its deficiencies or simply doesn't vibe with its strangeness is wrong?
Absolutely not, but it's a game clearly intended to appeal to a distinct brand of gaming weirdo who can find purpose, intention, and even charm in its more peculiar creative choices.
