8 Haunting Video Game Stories Most Players Missed
7. The Tale of David Ford - Resident Evil 2 & 3
The Resident Evil franchise has been a treasure trove of memos and reports from ill-fated "survivors," and while the original game's "Itchy... tasty" journal entry is the most iconic, the most legitimately devastating can be found in Resident Evil 2 and 3.
David Ford was a Raccoon City police officer who leaves a few reports recounting the earlier stages of the zombie outbreak and increasingly grim situation at the Raccoon City Police Department.
As the station gets overrun with the undead, David becomes racked with guilt at failing to rescue a fellow officer who saved his life, to the extent that he contemplates suicide.
The station's numbers rapidly dwindle over the next few days, and David resorts to drinking while again pondering his own demise. An eerie final report then reveals that the zombie breached the operations room and presumably killed David.
Given David's state of mind in the time leading up to his death, one can speculate that he might've put up no resistance against the flesh-eating horde. Bleak isn't even the word.
David's story deserves to be heard, yet considering just how many notes and other documents can be found among the halls of the RPD, you couldn't be blamed for missing it.
