1. Caroline Becomes GLaDOS - Portal 2
And finally we have a story you almost certainly missed because it ended up being cut from the game proper, so fair enough really.
Portal 2 reveals that the AI GLaDOS is based on the consciousness of Caroline, an assistant to Aperture CEO Cave Johnson.
This was the last request of a terminally ill Johnson, who also expressed a desire for it to be done by force if Caroline refused.
Though the main game doesn't confirm what became of Caroline, dataminers eventually found near-concrete proof that Caroline suffered a brutal end as was nearly depicted in Portal 2 itself.
Unused voice recordings, apparently meant for use in the game's third act, have Caroline repeatedly telling Johnson that she "doesn't want this," seemingly depicting the moment that Johnson forces her to become GLaDOS.
The few lines of Caroline's struggle that remain in the game's shipped code paint an absolutely unconscionable picture of the end she seemingly met, even if Valve thought better of including it in the final product.
