Warhammer 40K: Which Chaos Faction Should You Pick?

5. Death Guard XIV Legion

Revelling in the blissful decay of Grandfather Nurgle, the Death Guard trudge to war to spread his gifts across the Galaxy.

Fortified in pestilence and decay only the heaviest blades and most destructive shots will pierce the hide of a Plague marine. Allied with the disease given form, the daemons of Nurgle gurgle with delight knowing their Grandfather will be pleased with their efforts.

Under the baleful gaze of the Daemon Primarch Mortarion they are death incarnate.

Positives of playstyle

Death Guard are disgustingly resilient. Their standard troop, Plague Marines, are toughness five with a 5+ Feel No Pain.

They have built in re rolls of ones to wound on all of their Plague Weapons.

Some insane psychic powers.

Every model kit is plastic and the sculptures are incredible.

Both of their named characters are excellent.

Negatives of playstyle

Basic movement characteristics of their army is very slow. This means they will spend the first turn or two walking slowly up the board.

Their codex is still in its first edition and their models are over costed for their effectiveness. (However, with their new Psychic Awakening Book coming out this may change)

Not a huge array of models to choose from compared to the generic Chaos range.

The Chaos Lord HQ doesn’t have the ability Disgustingly Resilient and feels totally out of place.
