Warhammer 40K: Which Chaos Faction Should You Pick?
4. Thousand Sons XV Legion
Flickering magics and powerful conjurations fill the skies as the Scions of Magnus descend.
Driven out of the Imperium by a fate weaved stronger than any ceramite, the Thousand Sons are enthralled to the Service of the God Tzeentch, Lord of Change.
Their greatest salvation ended up being their greatest curse. On the daemon planet of the sorcerer’s their bodies mutated under the effects of Tzeentch until Chief Librarian Ahriman cast The Great Rubrik. A spell that destroyed the bodies of all but the most powerful psykers, binding the dust to their armour.
Now the remnants of their proud legion stand silent wielding powers beyond that of mortals.
Positives of playstyle
Masters of the warp. The Thousand Sons have the largest collection of psychic abilities in game.
Their army is geared towards making the most of their incredible psychic abilities with their unique trait “Brotherhood of Sorcerers” that extends the range of their psychic powers by six inches.
Tzeentch Daemon Princes are unbelievably powerful both in psychic and combat.
Magnus the Red is the best psyker in the game and he hits like a brick to the teeth in combat.
“Helm of the Third Eye” relic allows for command point farming!
Negatives of playstyle
Very few heavy units to choose from in the Codex. The Mutalith Vortex Beast whilst being a cool model with interesting rules is over costed for what it can do.
Tzaangors took a point increase that has made them a lot less valuable.
Difficult to run an effective Thousand Sons army without using named characters.
Requires a lot of concentration to play the army well due to how complicated the psychic phase can be.
