The granddaddy of all wrestling games, in the eyes of many. Despite being released over 16 years ago now, SmackDown! is just as good a gaming experience than WWE 2K15, which is as much of a criticism of the newest title as it is glowing praise for one of the oldest. The early SmackDown games stand the test of time, even compared with 2K Sports' efforts over the two most recent titles. This is because they have different types of gameplay. While the most recent WWE games focus on being as lifelike as possible, which can be frustrating at times, SmackDown! has arcadic gameplay which is non stop and so very exciting. Along with the main WWE match types, WWF SmackDown! includes a near impossible to complete story mode. Like most of the new games, unlockables are available in the forms of attires, new characters, players new body parts to put on new creations and the ability to play as that "unlocked" character. You can have a created superstar take part in the career mode. The game gives you a pre-season year to make alliances before the real stuff starts. This entry is merely down to taste. If you enjoy a faster paced, more 'arcadic' style of gameplay with the ability to play as the cream of the Attitude Era's crop, this is the alternative for you. If you have managed to complete the story mode, left me know @WhatCultureTwed.
