Looking back, we were spoilt with the early games WWF and THQ brought out. A section of WWE gamers still look back on WWEs second SmackDown! title as the best weve ever seen. As the next title in a series should, Know Your Role took all the facets of SmackDown! 1 to an entirely different level. The gameplay kept the same faced paced and 'arcadic' charm of its predecessor but improved in the number of playable match types, the story line mode and the creative suite. Gimmick battles like the casket match were seen for the first time while the career mode lost all of its annoyance from the first game. SmackDown's story mode was seemingly never ending but KYR's made for a better experience all round. The pre-season mode was removed while more story lines and matches per show were included. Up to four players could play in a single season mode, which made SmackDown! 2 arguably the most social game of the early THQ titles. The upgraded creation suite allowed you to create your own taunt as well as an updated create a superstar suite. One of the features in create a superstar was the face templates, that allowed you to preset the figures face to an actual superstar. It seems you can be more creative on a game that was released 15 years ago compared to one that was released a few months back.
