WWE 2K17: 10 Entrances They Must Get Right
3. Goldberg
The very first character to be revealed for this year’s game, WCW legend Goldberg is set to be featured in a WWE game for only the second time since 2003. Pre-ordered copies of the game will come packaged with two versions of his character based on his WCW and WWE appearances, and like everyone else on the list, his ring entrance is vital.
The less said about his watered down SmackDown: Here Comes The Pain (2003) entrance the better, but Goldberg’s WWE 2K14 entrance was actually relatively well executed. Kicking-off by storming out of a backstage locker-room, Goldberg made his way through the corridors towards the Gorilla Position. The cameras cut back to the arena, and Goldberg strode out through a wall of sparks and pyrotechnics, just like in real life.
This was the last time Goldberg was featured in a WWE game, and it’s highly likely that 2K will take the same route this year. The increased graphical capabilities offered on PS4 and Xbox One should see the entrance look even more spectacular than before, but they could stand to benefit from a little variety, particularly in the entrance’s backstage portion.
Nobody wants to see Goldberg walking through the same grey corridor over and over again, so maybe 2K will switch things up a little.
