5. William Regal

Whether working as a world-class technician in the midcard title scene, an authority figure, or in a backstage role, William Regal has been a steady hand for WWE for years. He has more than earned his status as one of the most universally-admired men in the business, and while he never became WWE Champion, he has undoubtedly made a mark on the company.

Even in his assumed retirement, Regal finds ways to stay relevant. He’s role as NXT’s General Manager shows that WWE, surprisingly, do know how to book an authority figure after all, and he serves as a vital go-between whenever WWE seek to boost their ranks. As a talent scout, coach, and on-screen performer, WWE plays an invaluable role in WWE, so why isn’t he in the game?

He was included in last year’s game, and while he’s obviously not an active wrestler anymore, you’d think his current status in the company would earn another inclusion. Albert, the Current WWE Performance Center Head Coach, is coming to 2K17 through DLC, and Regal would’ve slotted alongside him perfectly.

2K16’s rebuilt grappling system made playing with Regal a lot of fun. His style has always been based on dominating the opposition through brutal holds and strikes, but it doesn’t look like fans will have a chance to recreate it this year.
