'Rowdy' Roddy Piper's death on July 31st last year hit the wrestling world hard. Fans were still reeling from the death of 'The American Dream' Dusty Rhodes, so losing Hot Rod just six weeks later was a real kick in the nads, so to speak. Two of the most iconic performers in the history of the game were gone within less than two months of each other.

Dusty Rhodes was named on the roster for WWE 2K17, but as of writing 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper was yet to be announced. Ric Flair has referred to him as 'the most gifted entertainer in the history of professional wrestling', and numerous current stars wear their Piper influences on their sleeve.

All of this means that not a single individual from the main event of the very first WrestleMania has been announced for the WWE 2K17 roster.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
