Truth be told, you could easily come up with a number of reasons as to why 'The Animal' Batista is absent from WWE 2K17. Batista's return in 2014 was ultimately disappointing, a Royal Rumble win that nobody wanted compounded with disappointing performances and what amounted to a merciful end at the hands of The Shield.

Batista has also taken to various podcasts and interviews to air his displeasure with the company, talking of issues with its direction and constant arguments with Vince McMahon during that last run. Big Dave hasn't exactly had many kind words for WWE recently.

What Batista is, however, is a genuine Hollywood star in 2016. WWE surely wouldn't be so petty as to let a few negative comments prevent legitimate mainstream crossover appeal, would it? Batista's presence in the game would make sense for all involved, and the value of a former star now making a legitimate career for himself in the movie business is big.

Oh yeah, of course WWE is that petty.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
