WWE 2K22: 10 Reasons To Be Worried

7. Contradicting “Broadcast Style” Comments

2K Games Executive Producer Patrick Gilmore's AMA on Reddit was rather eye-opening last summer. In it, Pat excitedly laid out some of the things that long-suffering fans could expect to see in 2K22. He was passionate, but there were some contradictions to his answers.

Notably, Gilmore said that 2K planned to move away from a rigid "broadcast style" during matches. The familiar "UI popups" for pins, count outs, chain wrestling sequences and submissions would be replaced by...something else (he didn't say what), and that'd totally change 2K22's immersion levels.

He didn't, however, explain how removing video game-y overlays moves away from a broadcast feel. If anything, it'd make the experience more like a WWE TV show. Also, Gilmore said that reworked commentary and a new attention to detail for ringside fans would provide "a more organic representation of broadcast".

Again, that's a contradictory statement. It doesn't seem like 2K are really sure where to take the series, and that's pretty worrying.
