WWE 2K25 Early Reviews: 13 Major Details We Learned
10. Commentary Has Improved, To An Extent
Commentary in WWE video games stinks.
It always has.
This is no fault of anyone, truthfully, as recording sufficient announcing for an environment as fast-changing as WWE is nigh-on impossible, hence why the commentary trio of Michael Cole, Corey Graves, and Byron Saxton has presided over the digital announce booth since WWE 2K18. Re-recording hours and hours of lines in the dulcet tones of Wade Barrett or Joe Tessitore isn't a necessity for 2K, and it needn't be.
The good news is that, in WWE 2K25, Cole, Graves, and Saxton have recorded some new lines, offering unique commentary for specific interactions. Booking a match between Roman Reigns and The Rock for instance, a bout that is yet to be executed in the actual sports entertainment emporium, plates up discussions over Reigns' status as 'Head of the Table' providing the Anoa'i family with a "feast for the ages" while The Rock has focused on becoming a Hollywood hit. Similar occurrences shown include references to Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio's storied relationship, and Solo Sikoa's takeover as 'The Tribal Chief'.
Distinctive commentary can be heard, too, in Showcase Mode when a match ends contrary to its actual result, such as if Lyra Valkyria beats Nia Jax in the Queen of the Ring final.
