Xbox/Bethesda Acquisition: 8 Predictions For What Comes Next
1. Starfield Releases As A Winter 2021 Xbox Exclusive
Considering reports that Bethesda were shopping around timed exclusivity rights for their new IP beforehand, it seems a reasonable suggestion that Microsoft, hot off the heels of their purchase, will keep Starfield for their own 'ecosystem' (you've gotta love that corporate speak).
Insofar as Starfield has no precedent of availability cross-platform, it is the perfect title for Microsoft to keep for themselves to attract gamers to Xbox.
This remains likely even if, contrary to the last prediction, they opt to keep main entries in the Elder Scrolls and Fallout franchises cross-platform.
Starfield is new, so there's no audience other than the BGS audience to annoy by keeping it on Xbox (and of course, some BGS fans play both Elder Scrolls and Fallout, and some play one and not the other, so there's more leeway here).
Other leaks and rumours also point to Starfield launching late in 2021. And if supply issues are sorted by then, keeping the title exclusive is going to be an excellent way to shift Series Ss and Xs come Christmas.
