With newer gaming hardware comes a bump-up in graphical quality, and although we're getting to the point of diminishing returns i.e. This isn't the leap from N64/PS1 to Dreamcast/PS2, if you've seen games done well in 4K, there's no turning back.

Frame rate is the real big one though, as so many titles need responsiveness to accurately function, or to maintain the connection between you and the events on screen.

Failing to match your inputs 100% of the time is what crippled Google Stadia on day one, and in a move that almost feels like a "Don't worry, we got you" response to an all-streaming future, the SX will sport frame rates up to 120 frames per second.

Another new hardware feature is 8K picture quality, which I'd hazard to say feels like pie-in-the-sky stuff. Most people are yet to upgrade from HD to 4K, let alone doubling that again, just for one console, but time will tell.

Microsoft are clearly planning for the future, and that future will (eventually) be in 8K.
