7. No More Load Times

Phil Spencer has long talked about load times being the one thing we put up with as gamers, that should've been aged out at this point.

Thankfully, it seems the next generation will solve this, as both the PS5 and Xbox Series X will have solid-state drives.

Speaking to Gamespot, Spencer pointed out that the team at Xbox are trying to "virtually eliminate load times" - something that would meaningfully differentiate a new console generation.

Though no example was given, on the PS5 side we've heard about Spider-Man's New York City environment going from an 8.1 second load on PS4, to just 0.8 seconds on PS5.

Solid state drives are the way data will be handled going forward, and that means access to an entire game's file size at all times, speeding things up in ways we didn't know we needed.
