10 Amazing Horror Movie Performances That Should've Won Oscars
6. Naomi Scott - Smile 2
Though the Academy actually bothered to nominate a horror performance for a Best Actress Oscar this year - Demi Moore's superb work in The Substance - they still slept on an arguably equally brilliant performance in one of the year's best horror sequels.
Smile 2 saw Naomi Scott put on a sheer acting clinic as Skye Riley, the traumatised pop singer who becomes the latest target of the Smile Entity's curse. And Scott leaves it all out there, giving a performance that renders Skye in uncommonly multi-faceted terms, while absolutely dialling it up to 11 in the many scenes where the character is increasingly taunted and provoked by the Entity.
It's an exceptionally demanding performance for any actress to take on, and Naomi Scott knocked it way out of the park. And while this year's Best Actress slate is certainly packed with stellar performances, it's a shame that Scott didn't pick up any major awards buzz - though it was hardly a shocking outcome.
