10 More Horror Movie Shots That Will Send A Chill Down Your Spine
4. Bathsheba Arrives - The Conjuring
James Wan's The Conjuring is one of modern horror's finest movies. Sure, the general vibe around the Conjuring Universe of films has obviously soured somewhat after several dubious offerings, but that shouldn't take away from how brilliant that initial picture was and is.
Set in 1971, that 2013 effort sees the Perron family move into a Rhode Island farmhouse where spooky activity starts to come to the fore; spooky activity which sees the Perrons seek out the help of famed demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren.
While we'd had teases and literal bumps in the night, the first time we fully sees Bathsheba - the witch whose spirit haunts this home - it's in an all-timer of a jump scare and an all-time of a nerve-shredding shot.
After young Christine Perron goes sleepwalking, eldester Perron daughter Andrea lets her sister sleep in her bed. Just as Christine seems settled, a banging noise emits from Andrea's wardrobe. And as Andrea goes to investigate, Christine sits upright in bed and lets out a nervous gasp.
Of course, it's here that we get the startling, striking image of Bathsheba sat atop the wardrobe - complete with a bone-chilling score to add further terror to this scare.
