10 More Horror Movie Twists That Pissed Everyone Off

7. Nemesis Turns Babyface - Resident Evil: Apocalypse

Nemesis is one of the most iconic characters of the Resident Evil video game series, and so when the first Resi film ended with the tease that a version of Nemesis would appear in a sequel, anticipation was high when Resident Evil: Apocalypse rolled around in 2004.

That tease? Why, that was poor Matt Addison, whisked away as he's starting to mutate and we hear the words, "I want him in the Nemesis programme".

By the time of Apocalypse, Matt does indeed end up becoming the silver screen iteration of the famed Resident Evil 3 video game villain. That's unbeknownst to our heroine Alice, of course, until she realises midway through a final act fight against Nemesis that this is indeed her pal Matt.

In general, this take on Nemesis hugely split opinion amongst long-time RE fans, but the real kicker was the shocking - to borrow a phrase from the wrestling world - babyface turn of Nemi during the picture's final moments. There, the twist was Nemesis turning on Umbrella and sacrificing himself to save Alice from being taken out by a falling helicopter.

What a guy...
