Guillermo del Toro has been working on an adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein for roughly 30 years, and honestly, can you imagine a genre filmmaker better suited to this material?

A passion project that del Toro has had on his mind since he was a child, his Frankenstein casts Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi in the roles of Victor Frankenstein and his creation, respectively. And as won't surprise anyone, the trailer confirms this Frankenstein to be a visual feast of stunning production design, art direction, and visual effects, ensuring this should be one of the most evocative screen adaptations of the seminal text to date.

Armed with a stonking $120 million budget, del Toro had every opportunity here to realise the full extent of his decades-long vision, and there's little doubt it'll rank among the best, most unforgettable horrors of the year.

Frankenstein begins a limited theatrical release on October 17 before streaming globally on Netflix from November 7.
