You can always guarantee that, no matter how minute the detail may seem, nothing in a Jordan Peele movie is ever by accident. Everything is meticulously planned, and everything has a deeper meaning, even if it's not necessarily immediately apparent.

Of course, this is true for Get Out, arguably even more so than either Us or Nope. One such aspect was that of the deer. When Daniel Kaluuya's Chris and Allison Williams' Rose first hit the animal with their car, it tied back to how his mother was killed in a hit and run. Then there was Dean's (Bradley Whitford) controversial views surrounding deer, and the buck head he had mounted on the wall.

The head, a symbol for white oppression over the black community, was a huge metaphor throughout the story, and the fact that it was what Chris eventually killed Dean with was perfect poetic justice.

However, for a film that was far more psychological than physical, Dean's death scene was so visceral it was shocking. There could have been any number of ways for him to die, like Rose, who was shot, or Jeremy (Caleb Landry Jones), who was bludgeoned, but instead Dean was brutally impaled. Metaphor or no, this was a tough scene to watch.
