20 Awesome Horror Movies With No Sequels
16. The Babadook
The Babadook is one of the most iconic horror films of the 2010s - a devastatingly and unrelentingly creepy treatise on the terrors of parenthood and grief, and one that categorically put filmmaker Jennifer Kent on the map.
Though it was a relatively modest box office success upon original release, The Babadook has endured as a firm cult classic over the last decade-plus, enough that a studio executive somewhere has probably tried to figure out how to sequelise it.
But Kent doesn't seem like a filmmaker who'd be even remotely interested in franchising-out The Babadook, no matter how popular the character is in online circles.
The original film told a complete story, concluding with the central family coming to terms with their trauma, so one really has to ask where a sequel would even go.
The Babadook 2 would be a sequel purely for the sake of making one, so its non-existence is absolutely for the best.
