20 Best Christmas Horror Movies You NEED To Watch

6. The Wolf of Snow Hollow

The phenomenally talented indie filmmaker Jim Cummings followed up his superb debut Thunder Road with The Wolf of Snow Hollow, a deliciously entertaining little movie about a Utah town being terrorised by a werewolf over the Christmas period.

While Cummings' film doesn't fly its holiday flag quite as high as some other features on this list, there's still a paradoxically cosy vibe to its snow-kissed setting, no matter the bloodshed that follows.

The Wolf of Snow Hollow is also notable for being the final film completed by the late, great Robert Forster, who gives a terrific performance as the Sheriff trying to bring the mayhem under control. And on top of all this, it's a movie that refreshingly toys with audience expectations for both the werewolf movie and low-budget filmmaking as a whole. Without giving too much away, there's a rug-pull here that lands just perfectly.

At just 84 minutes in length, it can't ever be accused of outstaying its welcome.
