Bambi: The Reckoning provides yet further proof that the Twisted Childhood Universe isn't quite the fully cynical enterprise it could be. At least the filmmakers are trying to do something fun and artistic with these low-fi cash-ins on classic stories entering the public domain.

The franchise's take on Bambi has a few solid kills, though the best of the lot occurs after teenager Harrison (Joseph Greenwood) flees from the murderous Bambi and gets lost in the woods. Here, he encounters a bunny rabbit, implied to be Thumper, and in his frustration, kicks the rabbit like a football, which turns out to be quite the big mistake.

Harrison is then swiftly surrounded by a fleet of mutated rabbits, including "Thumper," causing him to nervously step backwards and fall head-first into a bear trap. At this moment, the rabbits jump on Harrison and start nibbling away at his flesh, leaving him completely helpless as he's devoured alive by the deceptively cute critters.
