20 Horror Movie Scenes That Make Absolutely No Sense

5. 28 Weeks Later - The Least Secure Safe Zone Ever

Final Destination 3 Mary Elizabeth Winstead
Fox

Plot: Seven months after the outbreak of the Rage Virus, a NATO force set up a safe zone in London in order to try and repopulate the UK.

28 Weeks Later is one of the most plot-hole-ridden horror sequels ever made. Certainly not one of the worst - it is well-acted and well-directed - but one of the dumbest. The new outbreak of the Rage Virus was so avoidable that watching this movie is genuinely maddening.

Two young arrivals to the safe zone, Tammy (Imogen Poots) and Andy (Mackintosh Muggleton), are reunited with their father Don (Robert Carlyle) but believe that their mother died in the outbreak. They're worried about forgetting what their mother looks like, so they sneak out into the unsafe city to visit their old home and retrieve a picture, confirming them as two of the most selfish, dim-witted kids in horror history.

Having said that, what really made this so ridiculous is that they were able to sneak out at all. This is supposed to be an uber-secure safe zone, and yet the army don't notice two kids sneaking off right under their noses. And then, when it turns out the kids' mother is still alive and an asymptomatic carrier of the Rage Virus, they leave the room which she's in unguarded, and Don is allowed to go and visit her unsupervised. Inevitably, he then gets infected and a new outbreak begins.

This was surely one of the most avoidable horror movie disasters ever.
