20 Horror Movie Scenes That Make Absolutely No Sense

13. The Wolf Creek Films - Mick's Teleportation Powers

Final Destination 3 Mary Elizabeth Winstead
Roadshow Film Distributors

Plot: In both films, the psychopathic serial killer Mick Taylor (John Jarratt) hunts tourists in the Australian Outback.

The Wolf Creek movies have plenty going for them, but they might just leave a bit of a nasty taste behind. Not only are they cruel movies in general, but a lot of their cruelty doesn't feel earned, as the movies don't actually make all that much sense. More specifically, while Mick Taylor is a fearsome villain played brilliantly by Jarratt, he's so overpowered that he does lack credibility to an extent.

Somehow, Mick always finds his victims when they escape into the Outback. Even when they go to fairly random places, he always shows up with his rifle. Most notably, Wolf Creek 2's lead Paul (Ryan Corr) treks across the Outback for hours and eventually passes out; an elderly couple finds him and takes him in, only for Mick to show up shortly afterwards. How did he find Paul?

For context, you could fit the entirety of mainland Europe into Australia with space to spare. Like, it's a big place, you know? Even if Mick was an experienced hunter, he shouldn't be able to find his victims quite so easily. There is a fan theory that Mick is actually supernatural, and that would arguably make the movies better, as that would make him being so overpowered feel considerably more acceptable.
