20 Horror Movie Sequels Releasing In 2026

Though Lionsgate waited well over a year to release The Strangers - Chapter 2, the third and final entry into this filmed-at-once slasher trilogy is releasing this February, a mere four months after Chapter 2 came out to disastrous reviews and an underwhelming box office.

It couldn't be more obvious that Lionsgate is burning this finale off as quickly and cheaply as possible, then. They've already made a solid return on their investment, considering the entire trilogy only cost around $25 million to produce, and it's painfully apparent that there's scant audience interest in seeing how it all wraps up.

The trailer at least suggests that the great Richard Brake might get a little more to do this time around, and protagonist Maya (Madelaine Petsch) will seemingly turn the tables on her masked attackers.

With director Renny Harlin spending an apparent three weeks reshooting parts of Chapter 3, we can only hope it might be at least a little tighter and tidier than its predecessors - but still probably don't expect too much from it.

The Strangers - Chapter 3 releases on February 6.
