20 Horror Movies That Fall Apart In The Final Act

7. Megan Is Missing

Megan is Missing falls into the same category as 13 Sins: its final act goes too far, and the whole thing becomes excessively cruel.

Still, to be fair to 13 Sins, it positively pales in comparison to the horrors that Megan is Missing inflicted on us. This movie is so effed-up it actually went viral on TikTok at one point, and traumatized an awful lot of people as a result.

This found-footage horror follows Amy (Amber Perkins), who's looking for her best friend Megan (Rachel Quinn). Megan went missing after an internet date, and thanks to Lucy's detective work, she eventually ends up being captured by the same predator who took Megan. The final 20 minutes, recorded on a handheld camera, show what happened to the two girls, and it's... a lot.

As seen in the footage, Amy is tortured, sexually assaulted, and then buried alive in a barrel containing Megan's brutalized corpse. This took the movie from a passable watch to a gratuitous and exploitative piece of sadism that might leave viewers feeling genuinely ill. The line in the sand is there for a reason, and sometimes, it's better not to cross it.
