2. Alien: Covenant Sequel
Though the success of Alien: Romulus seemed to signal that the sci-fi horror franchise was finally moving away from Ridley Scott for good, not quite.
In recent months, reports emerged that a Romulus prequel was being held up due to Scott's desire to produce a direct sequel to his middling 2017 Prometheus follow-up, Alien: Covenant. And those reports have now been confirmed, with Scott recently revealing that he's currently rewriting the script for a new Alien film intended to conclude his trilogy of prequel movies.
Furthermore, the script revolves around Michael Fassbender's malevolent android David, who, according to Scott, basically believes he's a living god at this point.
Scott also bluntly stated that he thought Romulus was "OK" but that the franchise "needs some help."
Considering the wildly polarising reception to both Prometheus and especially Alien: Covenant, many fans are doubtless frustrated that this is getting in the way of a direct Romulus sequel.
