20 Horror Sequels That Were Just Announced
17. Pontypool Changes
After 2008's fiercely unique horror Pontypool became a cult success, many fans hoped that filmmaker Bruce McDonald would get to produce a planned sequel, Pontypool Changes.
Yet considering the first film grossed a whopping $32,118 worldwide, it sure didn't seem likely, even as McDonald and franchise author Tony Burgess have continually banged the drum for another movie.
Fans have thus far had to settle for a spin-off, 2019's Dreamland, which met a largely mixed reception from critics and fans, but back in July, McDonald announced that the script for Pontypool Changes - also known as Typo Chan - is finally complete.
As for the plot? It's set in a rehab center as victims of the virus learn to speak properly and act normal once more, while the virus-transmitting radio broadcast is kept under lock and key - for now.
Though shooting hasn't yet started, McDonald said he was "in talks with a few companies" for financing, so hopefully after almost 20 years Pontypool might finally get the true follow-up it so desperately deserves.
