SPOILERS: Plot reveal for Whedon's CABIN IN THE WOODS

Wanna know the plot reveal for "the horror movie to end all horror movies", the mysterious CABIN IN THE WOODS, as announced by Joss Whedon in July 2007? Well basically there are spoilers here as I think this twist will probably be hidden away in the trailer as best as possible. But if your curious to know, just as I was, then read /film's detailed synopsis from Brendon Connelly who got his hand on the script or read below the photo or Whedon... The film begins with the white collar characters played by the great Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford in the cabin where they are joined by the usual group of cliched horror victims when...

...the full extent of the white-collared ones€™ plan comes into focus. They are luring the kids here to have them €œtransgress€ so that they might then be €œpunished€. They are god-like manipulators, shady business dealers, adults to be suspicious of, aloof yet blood hungry audience and cyncial film makers all rolled into one. The cabin is rigged with carefully selected props, gimmicks and cameras that allow the overseers to both spy on and interfere with the college kids. As things are warming up we are given the idea that there are many different ways in which it could go very wrong for the victims, and that employees of the mysterious organisation behind this scheme have held a sweepstakes on just how it€™s going to pan out. The various possibilities are shown to include Vampires, Werewolves, Aliens, Clowns, Scarecrows, Zombies and, ho ho, an Angry Molesting Tree. The zombies come first€

So it's like BIG BROTHER meets a HORROR movie, which is definitely not as original as Joss Whedon made it out to believe two years ago. If you've seen a small time british horror by the name of MY LITTLE EYE, it kind of goes in the same direction as this and although I haven't seen it, Brendon Connelly mentions BEHIND THE MASK: THE RISE OF LESLIE VERNON's third act as basically being a big spoiler for this movie. It still sounds pretty cool though, despite the movie sounding very formulaic with it's treatment of classic horror genres. I would hate for it to go through the motions so now it's a zombie film... now it's a vampire movie... now it's EVIL DEAD. You know? CLOVERFIELD's Drew Goddard directs from a screenplay he collaborated with Whedon and the movie is due out February next year. The full cast for the film has yet to be revealed.
