10 2010s Musicians Destined To Be One-Hit Wonders
5. Icona Pop
Stockholm duo Icona Pop’s breakthrough with I Love It is often mistaken as a Charli XCX song, but the London singer is only the featured artist. Perhaps Charli stole the show and thus any subsequent chance for success. The band are better known on the dance circuit rather than pop fame.
The two have not released an album since their 2013 success, but have maintained a reputation with a string of small hits in their native Sweden.
In recent years the Swedes have lent their voice talents to Dreamworks’ Trolls series of films, voicing the characters Satin and Chenille. Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo are still writing new music, but haven’t charted outside Sweden since 2015.
A couple US Dance Chart No. 1's in the first half of the decade showed promise, but I wouldn't expect a throwback to the early 2010s club boom sound in the 2020s.
