7. Jada Pinkett-Smith
Jada Pinkett made herself known as a brazen character actress on the television series A Different World and in movies like A Low Down Dirty Shame before becoming Mrs. Will Smith and mostly fading away from the spotlight. She's since popped up in the occasional big-time role, like that of Niobe in The Matrix sequels and as Fish Mooney in Gotham, but has made acting a part-time gig.
Band: Wicked Wisdom But that doesn't mean she's resigned herself as a stay-at-home mom and servicer of The Fresh Prince, either. On the contrary, Pinkett-Smith has branched out into unexpected musical territory, inserting herself into the role of female rock goddess as the lead singer of goth-metal band Wicked Wisdom. It's an unlikely scenario--Pinkett-Smith as the successor to Motorhead's Lemmy or Metallica's James Hetfield--but it wasn't one borne of hasty trend-hopping as one might expect. (Nu metal was all the rage when she formed the group back in 2002.) She says she's been a metalhead since she was a kid, citing Guns N' Roses as a major influence:
"I listened to all kinds of metal as a kid. I would always look at Axl Rose and say, 'Why aren't there any chicks out there doing this now?' I always wanted an opportunity to get out there and rock out."
The band underwent a brief makeover in 2011, with member departures and a name change (to Wicked Evolution), but in 2013 the original lineup reformed and released another album. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f56ZtXrx_nw
