10 Albums That Should Have Never Gotten Big

1. Wild Life - Wings

When getting out of the biggest band in the world, it's not expected that you'll land on your feet the minute you step down. After all, when you're up on top of a pedestal for that long, no one would even blame for not thinking of the repercussions. Though the Beatles' hectic lives had drastic effects on every individual member, the genesis of Paul McCartney's first post-Fab band was a little too rough around the edges on Wild Life.

Considering he could pretty much have any musician he wanted at his disposal, Paul's choice of creating a new band with his wife Linda and Denny Laine was already a weird enough choice as it was. Once you popped on the record, you started to get worried that Paul had finally lost his way. Across this entire record are 9 tracks that are no more than just jams, with Paul ad libbing for the hell of it and getting a feel for how the rest of the guys play off each other.

It's not that it's badly played or anything, but this is Paul McCartney: the known perfectionist of the Beatles who wouldn't settle until a song was as perfect as it was going to be. Though pretty much anything McCartney did at this point was going to be picked apart, Wild Life may be the most glorified demo recording in the history of rock.
