10 Albums That You Need To Listen To More Than Once

3. OK Computer - Radiohead

There was actually a time where Radiohead were dangerously close to falling into one hit wonder territory. Though the Bends managed to sell fairly well for an alternative rock act of the day, it really felt like these British transplants were going to be living in the shadow of their aggro hit Creep for the rest of their lives. Then Ok Computer came out and the press had...thoughts.

Compared to the classic sounding tracks coming from the likes of Oasis and Blur at the time, Radiohead's third outing was a lot heavier a listen, even delving into weird electronic detours like on the back half of Karma Police. Hell, even having the gall to release the 3 part song Paranoid Android as a single was a bit of stretch coming from them at this time. Even the label didn't know what to do with it either, electing to scale down the sales expectations because they thought no one would buy it.

As much as this seemed slated to fail, OK Computer became known as the future of rock, signaling the dawn of the digital age while also staying firmly rooted in the clinically clean rock and roll that had become the norm at this point in the decade. Much like other Radiohead albums though, it sounds immaculate, it's about as close to perfection as you can get...and it's never to be repeated again.
