10 Albums Turning 20 In 2019

6. Foo Fighters - There Is Nothing Left To Lose

For as easygoing as the Foo Fighters seem to be especially in recent years, the late '90s were not kind to the band. After the success of their album The Colour and the Shape, the band had internal struggles, leading to the band replacing their drummer and losing 2 guitar players.

Frustrated by the internal stress, Dave Grohl decided to make the next record at his home in Virginia. Since everything was "in-house" (excuse the pun), the album has some of the band's most varied song collection that has ever been on a Foos record. The album starts with "Stacked Actors," one of the Foos' greatest all-out metal songs.

"Learn to Fly" was a huge success with its classic rock sounding chorus, while other songs like "Next Year" and "Ain't it the Life" echo a Beatles-centric sound the band hadn't shown yet. The band also explores other effects like a talkbox on "Generator" and delay on "Aurora."

While these songs are radical departures from each other, the album never feels disjointed as a result of it. The album has the laid back feeling of the album's production, like you are listening to a band just having some fun in the studio.
